Adding some Character To the Beast

Time for an update , man been too busy with spring. Got around to some weathering on the beast. Added some filters {oils}, chipping with acrylics , fading, and some added overall grime using some AK mud and earth effects. Lots to go , thought Id take a few shots and post.

Somewhat glossy coat still had due to the layers of Future between steps to protect what work has been done. If you screw up, easy to fix .After the multitude of layers the finish will flatten out, as mentioned these are only the first steps.

New Dio, Return of the "Great Chicken Hunter".

Finally finished this dio I have been working on and off for a considerable amount of time. Had most of the element finished last fall but some things just weren't up to my liking. I had to redo the tree and add some weathering to the King Tiger of 503 PZ Abt in Hungary , fall 1944. Dragon kit with zimmerite and Griffon model photo etch , modelkasten tracks, Warrior and New World Miniatures figures, Miniart Wagon , scratch built tree and ground work and Mantis critters.

 

 

 

 

 Played with my new camera and some editing features today, it will take some time , but I will redo a multitude of pictures in the near future. Any how here's my new dio ,

Man Cave

Man Cave: we all need one, some have hidden troll rooms under the stairs next to the furnace and the cat box , been there years ago. Some use a broom closet or an whole basement , what ever works.
 We all need a place to create and get away from life and be able to let our imaginations and brain juices flow.Get as messy as we want, the only screaming is the one on the stereo.

 

 

I'll share some pics of the bunker , don't mind the mess but I wasn't expecting any company, next time let me know your coming over.

Massive Mistake

Massive mistake ? yep that's the Jadgtiger , this will be the third build of this monster over the years. Tamiya kit circa 2008 ,I kind of like the Dragon kit better in many regards.The only advantage is the poly caps for all the road wheels and sprockets. Some pieces look too similar to their old king tiger kits , but the shortcoming was the armour welds and the multi piece road wheels.This kit was acquired on black Friday for a deal and the build was very easy , added some photo etch from my arsenal. WWII { anvil } tracks were added from my stash and a loin roar turned metal gun { correct length }.

 

 

First off was to fill the deep void between the from and side amour on the top plate, this was achieved by using strip styrene, softened and scribed with a dental tool for a simulated weld.

 

I blue tacked the original cables and tool holders on and gave it a fast spray of black to show the placement of all the holders, this saved an amount of time to measure and placement of the photo etch pieces. The armour extension holders were made of sheet styrene, where as the kit one were shaved off.

I used Archer resin weld beads to add some detail to the armour.

 

Then added some surface detail from beating it up and putting on surface primer and Mr Sufacer 500.

Basic paint laid down , mostly Tamiya and Vallejo. Decaled and sealed with some gloss coat ready for a multitude of hours of detail painting and weathering.

Famo and son

Couple of pics of my resent build before Christmas , still lots to do . Tamiya Famo and trailer { second build of this beauty}. Aber photo etch , scratch built hoist for spade,Tech Star tarps , and scratch built goodies. Still a long way to go , both have preliminary paint, mapping and limited filters.

 

Note there is no steering wheel or cab accessories due to the number of figures I have to convert to put on this mammoth hauler. Like mentioned earlier this is one in progress and a very large dio is planed for completion in 2014, plans are laid out and progress will be posted as often as I have an update.

Panther G

I've been busy on the build lately , first off I would like to present my finished Panther G late. Just need a base for this extensive build that took a while to get the paint right. Enjoy and feel free to comment.

 

 

This is the Dragon kit with Griffon photo etch modelkasten tracks, a few scratch built refinement, model master paint as base with Vallejo filters and pigments. All camo free hand using a Iwata Eclipse HP BS and old Badger compressor with regulator and water trap.

Dragon Panther A Late Production Premium, Griffon photo etch set, scratch build zimmerite using "no more nails" heavy PVA glue , paper foliage , scratch build antennae pod and used the Dragon extension rods form the 251/3 set. Fruil Tracks .Both AFV's have converted Warrior figures.
